Sustainability at House of Dune
Sustainability at House of Dune highlights
Protecting the Coastlines We Love
House of Dune exists to care for the coastlines that have shaped the way we live. While our local beaches aren't the ones most overwhelmed by plastic pollution, they are part of the same global ocean system that carries the impact. We believe responsibility means supporting the regions where the problem is greatest, not overstating it at home. Our approach is grounded in action, respect and long-term thinking rather than alarm.
Designing with Purpose
The materials we choose are part of a wider circular system. Our umbrellas and cabanas use RPET canopies made from recycled plastic bottles that might otherwise end up in landfill or waterways. Our loungers are made with Olefin for its durability, longevity and reduced environmental impact. Even our packaging is intentionally minimal and recyclable. For us, sustainability starts in the design process, not after the fact.
A Mission to Remove 1 Million Bottles
Our 1 million bottle goal is driven by measurable impact through Plastic Bank. Every product under $100 funds the removal of 50 plastic bottles, and every product over $100 prevents 100 bottles from entering the ocean. Cabanas and umbrellas go even further, with one cabana representing around 250 bottles through donations and recycled materials. The live counter on our site tracks only our Plastic Bank contributions in real time, and we reconcile every six months to ensure accuracy. Their blockchain system keeps collections traceable and publicly visible.
Built to Last, Not to Replace
The biggest waste comes from things made to be replaced. We create products that hold up to years of sun, salt and use, so they don’t end up in landfill after one season. Longevity reduces consumption and increases value, which is why every piece is made to last, not to be thrown away. When something is built well, it makes a smaller footprint and a bigger impact.
Conscious Living, Timeless Style
Sustainability should feel effortless. Our collections reflect the tones and textures of coastal landscapes, from Salted Sage to Orca Stripe, and are made to age well, not fall out of fashion. Choosing pieces that last — in both style and quality — is one of the simplest ways to live lightly without compromise.
Join Us
Every purchase contributes to real change. Whether it’s a single towel or a full setup, each item funds plastic recovery and supports communities on the frontlines of ocean pollution. The more awareness we build together, the greater the impact becomes. One product is a start. Collective action is the difference.
